Border Crisis: “It is what it is”
Hartford, CT Native Mayze has returned with another track in response to 60ShotBlake. With this track titled “Is what it is” released on YouTube along with visuals, Mayze takes shots at 60ShotBlake & many other artist.
A gritty & dark environment encompasses the visuals, as Mayze breaks down his gripes with the current rap ecosystem.
In this video Mayze sends messages along with visuals shot directly from the infamous “Border”. The “Border” is slang for an area in Hartford, CT & is identified by the specific area, & its individuals associated with the area. In a real “IYKYK” situation, this visual gives us a lot of symbolic gestures acknowledging those he mentioned in the track.
In the Track Mayze takes aim at 60ShotBlake & even his diss record’s videographer, another CT native JoakFILMS, known for this gritty but sharp visuals. In the verse he mentions 60shot’s government name Sadiki , saying
“wit dat name he get in Diddy Parties for free, free”
, referring to the henious charges Diddy has recently been charged with.
In a bar right after that he mentions the “Border” saying
“Put the border on a tilt they gon have to realign that”.
In the hook Mayze also takes more shots at Hartford creatives as he melodies,
“I know niggas don’t like me, but fuck it grate, it Is, what it is.”
This bar is followed by,
“They ain’t get the picture, til I switched my cameraman, fuck it grate, it Is, what it is”
, with a clip of him dapping up JoakFILMS insinuating he had to replace videographers.
As previously stated before in one of our articles “Heavyweight Champs”, Mayze is a aggressive and confident rapper, & in this track he reestablishes his presence in the Hartford music scene.
When reaching out to Mayze for his thought on the track he said;
“Waddup bro. everybody is against me even behind the scenes and I'm not backing down to nothing. ON my dead body…..
And that's coming from me..... that's about it.“
