Super Bowl Debacle.

With the 2024 Football season kicking off on the 3rd of September, the season has just begun. But there seems to already be controversy surrounding the upcoming Super Bowl in February of 2025.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Sunday September, 8th that Kendrick Lamar would lead the halftime festivities. This was followed by a symbolic video posted from Kendrick Lamar also announcing his halftime performance acceptance. We were only granted just a few brief moments to be congratulatory of this historic moment, before a statement generated a discussion.

The initial statements that rocked the industry came from an alleged manager of Hip Hop artist D’Wayne “Lil Wayne” Carter, the managers name is Fabian Marasciullo.

In the statements above Marasciullo expresses his “confusion” & “disappointment” With the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show selection. With the Super Bowl game being in New Orleans, Louisiana for 2025 some believed it was only right for Lil Wayne to have been selected, being that this is his home city.

But with tensions still very high from the historic “beef” between Kendrick & Drake

(who is also affiliated with Lil Wayne & Cash Money records), we could only speculate that there could be more to it.

From what should’ve simply been a congratulatory moment this turned into an eruption of opinions on the internet.

This was even followed by official statements from large A-List names like Bryan “Birdman” Williams, Niki Minaj & even Juvenile, expressing their frustration with the decision not to choose Lil Wayne.

But with Kendrick being such an avid fan of Wayne, could this overzealously unprofessional outburst have done more damage, than help?

Within 3 days of everyone’s public outrage we received yet another cryptic response from Kendrick on 9/11, but it was through music as he typically does, read about it more here.

In this track he maybe hints at distaste for many of those who were publicly critical of him, along with some of our cultural issues they embody.

Today Lil Wayne even took to his Instagram where he released an awkwardly filmed 3rd person video where he expresses his “hurt” by the entire situation. With claims like he needs to “fall back” & “recover” from the “hurt” that no one (possibly not even him) even knew about prior to last Sunday.

But to kill the conversation & debate we should acknowledge the couple of elephants in the room. Not only is Kendrick having an amazing year, he’s also one of Hip Hop’s best performers & he also has a far more marketable catalogue for such a grand stage.

On the other end Wayne has had many health scare’s regarding substance abuse, along with an inability to even recite his own lyrics at times.
