Russian, Ukrainian War: Ukraine invades Kursk Region, What’s next?
Updated: Sep 21
As most of us are aware, Russia began a land invasion of Ukraine on the 20th of February, 2022. Since the inception of war Ukraine has been receiving Goods & Munitions to fend off their eastern invaders from NATO affiliates.
In total NATO allies and partners have provided around $180 billion, including the United States contribution of between $59-75 billion. With this in mind, Is this battle even strategically worth the fight?
With the funding, ammunition & artillery supplied Ukraine has been able to push the lines of war from a defensive position to offensive, clashing on the frontlines of Russia.
Their secret invasion begun early August 6th, 2024 as they approach one month of conflict in the region. Ukraine was able to successfully seize roughly 490 sq. miles of Russian territory before beginning their aerial & land assault.
Upon entering the region with the purpose of creating another buffer zone, Ukrainian forces began to attack industrial infrastructure facilities.
Military analyst also suggest this incursion was also an attempt to divert Russian forces from the Eastern battlefront of Ukraine into Russia. To no prevail though as the Kremlin has allocated reserves along with their Air Force to defend their mainland against invasion.
As many NATO allies & affiliates are reconsidering Ukrainian funding due to various reasons including; corruption, economic instability & public outcry.
For most of Ukraine’s brief history as an acknowledged government they’ve battled with corruption on a macro level.
From deliberate manipulation to political assassinations, Ukraine has dealt with its many of issues regarding corruption, being listed 104 out of the 180 most corrupt countries in the world.
This push into Kursk is a great political win for Ukraine, but is it really putting any dent into the damage that had already been done? The US has eagerly tossed a hat in with assistance & as the doomsday clocks move in closer to midnight, it leaves me wondering,
Are we poking a Nuclear bear & arming up for a potential world war?
Is this War worth the economic stress or fight in this modern world?
