2024 was an extremely eventful year for Hip Hop culture. With the top of the year featuring acts like Kanye & Ty $ with the “Vultures” release in February, followed up by Future & Metro Boomin in April with “We Don’t Trust You”.

In the midst of these releases Kendrick Lamar features on a track with Future titled “Like that”.

This “Like that” verse sparks tension in the Hip Hop community between Drake & Kendrick, with the outcome creating a 10 track back & forth between the two, with Kendrick coming out victorious.

Kendrick has taken over 2024, & is rightfully taking his crown as the King of Hip Hop for the moment. With this battle we saw Kendrick gain and maintain historical feats with these “diss” records, claiming #1 on billboard and nearly any other streaming platform for the last 5 months.

Kendrick started his home run stretch with a Juneteenth event entitled “The Pop Out – Ken and Friends”, & he has been able to also successfully claim his Position as the 2025 Super Bowl Half time Preformance.

But may it have been a bittersweet victory?

Because we’ve got yet another amazing Kendrick Lamar release, many are hinting at it possibly being a sequel or “Game 2” to the beef that ignited it all.

As an Original Kendrick Lamar audio, this was listed on his Instagram account with a pair of dusty black Nike Air Force 1s.

With a Soulfully eerie beat Kendrick dives in to address a variety of issues & ideas through his immersive storytelling style. This is morality rap, rap for the Hip Hop community that yearns for actual substance with attempts to address gluttony and misguiding our youth into the wrong paths while others are rapping mindless nonsense. I hear an attempt to begin a process of healing to our Hip Hop community as he attempts to attack the many issues troubling us today.

There are many gems and jabs that can be precieved through the lyrics. And as the song dropped tonight, I haven’t myself even began to break them all down. But wether this is the end of another Hip Hop reign or new beginnings, Kendrick has declared he would like to watch the “party” die.
